Nintendo Finally Unveils the Switch 2 – Here's Everything You Need to Know!

After months of speculation, Nintendo has officially revealed the highly-anticipated Switch 2. 

The announcement came this afternoon (16/1/25) in a sleek video showcasing the console’s fresh design, including its innovative magnetic Joy-Cons.

The Switch 2 is set to launch in 2025, with more details promised during a Nintendo Direct on 2nd April. You can watch the announcement trailer here.

Fans were also treated to a sneak peek at an exciting new Mario Kart game, featuring favourites like Mario, Peach, Luigi, and Bowser racing across vibrant tracks on karts and bikes. While Nintendo remained tight-lipped about Metroid Prime 4, it confirmed the Switch 2 will support exclusive games and most physical and digital titles from the original Switch. However, some games may not be fully compatible.

If you’re eager to try the console before its release, Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events are coming to Europe. UK fans can head to London from 11th to 13th April, with tickets distributed via a free draw. Registration opens 17th January at 14:00 and closes 26th January at 23:59.
